How To Become a Morning Person
I've been a morning person my whole life. In high school I'd wake up at 5:30am so I could shower, get ready, and have breakfast before it was time to leave for school. Now, even since I'm not going into work, I still wake up early in order to start my day.
To make yourself into a morning person, its all about establishing a routine.
Go to bed around the same time every night, preferably before 11:00pm, to make sure you're getting 8 hours of sleep!
Set an alarm for the same time each morning, I always set mine for 7am. Yes, you need to do this for weekends, too. I set mine for 8am on weekends just in case I need a little extra sleep. Since I'm in such a solid routine, my body usually wakes me up before that anyways!
Give yourself something to look forward to, something that will help to get you out of bed. Think simple, yet time sensitive. For me, its getting to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee before having to go do anything else. I live for those morning moments so it makes it all that much easier to get out of bed without hitting snooze! I know that if I hit snooze, I won't have time for my coffee. That's the key!
Set your own 'snooze' alarms! If I don't think I'll wake up/get up at the first alarm, I'll usually set another for 2 minutes later, then another two minutes after that. The snooze on an iPhone is 9 minutes long, so setting your own 'snooze' alarms will make sure that your body knows sleep time is over!
It takes a little self-discipline, but if you really want to become a morning person this is the way to do it! It doesn't take long for your body to adjust, and once it does you will be so thankful! Mornings are probably my favorite time of the day, why miss out?
