Monday’s suck, right?
But what happens when every day starts to feel like Monday?
Keeping your head out of that kind of mentality can feel extremely difficult, especially if you aren’t working a job you would consider your “dream job”. Regardless of your current situation, being miserable every day is no way to live your life!
These are a few things I do to keep myself positive and happy throughout the workweek, and they are easy enough to apply to your own life.
1. Clear your head
I have found that for me, the best way to do this is to go for a run or a long walk multiple times a week. The exercise and endorphins leave me feeling de-stressed and just all around relieved of anything that may be troubling me. Even though exercise doesn’t solve all of life’s problems, it can give you the mental clarity you need in order to do it!
2. Give yourself a break
Work-Life balance is important and necessary. I am fortunate enough to have a job that I can leave at work once my 8 hours are up. If your job is more taxing on your personal time, make sure you are designating “me” time into your day. Saying that you “don’t have time” is no excuse. Put those prioritizing skills to work! Physically pencil it into your schedule if need be, but you will thank yourself in the long run. I make sure to squeeze things I love into my free time in order to make it feel more special. Going to get coffee instead of making it at home, going to the beach for an afternoon, seeing a good movie, going out for drinks with friends, petting other people’s dogs at the dog park… Things like that.
3. Get enough sleep
How much harder is it to wake up and go to work in the morning when you are absolutely exhausted? It may just be me, but that is one of the worst feelings! Nowadays, your smartphone can actually remind you when it is time to start winding down, so again, no excuses! If you know that your bed time is 9 o’clock, don’t start your laundry at 8:30. Shoot for getting 8 hours every night. Waking up rested always helps me start the day on a positive note, which usually has a strong effect on how the rest of my day goes.
Keep these in mind as you tackle this week! If you start feeling run down, write down your goals or positive messages on sticky notes and post them where you will see them frequently. Keep your ambitions fresh in your mind so you can continually grow towards achieving them! Have a great week!
