Yes. Yes. Yes. Just do it. Buy it. Use it. And love it.
I naturally have very dry skin on my face, and once I find a product that works for me, my skin seems to grow immune to it. While I love EDAP (as I talked about here in an earlier post) for clearing up my skin and making it pretty again, it didn’t give my skin enough moisture.
I was so afraid of putting anything with the word “oil” in its name on my face, for fear of breakouts and clogged pores. I had read up on using coconut oil as a cleanser/moisturizer for a while, and once I managed to gain some courage, I decided that it was worth a shot.
My skin looks and feels so much healthier. I really noticed it the other day when my makeup was finished that my skin looked way smoother than it used to, with less foundation. Keep in mind, I have only been using it for about a month!
It took a little while to figure out how to apply the oil on my face in the right amounts. Some areas required more oil than others. The bottom half of my face, from my nose downward, is where my skin is the driest. My nose and forehead are considerably less dry, and therefore do not need as much oil. Learning how your own skin naturally is will be the key to success when you start using coconut oil. Finding this perfect balance has greatly improved the quality of my skin.
I am so happy to be rid of the tight, flaky feeling of my skin. The moisture lasts throughout the day, and when applied with the correct amount needed for the different sections of my face, there is no oily feel or look (something I definitely was not expecting).
One thing to know, is that it takes longer than other moisturizers to sink into your skin. I usually wash my face when I shower in the morning, and I apply the coconut oil immediately once I am out. By the time I do my hair and get dressed, the oil has sunk in and my face is ready for makeup.
I bought my jar at Trader Joe’s for about $6, and it will last me long enough that I will probably have to bequeath it to my grandchildren in my will.
I really recommend you try it, especially if you are into using all natural products. If you are a coconut oil user, or not, leave your experience in the comments!
