Work, work, work, no play.
Not for me – and not for you! Someone messaged me the other day asking how I balance working and blogging. In my opinion, I am always happier when I have a hobby, or some kind of creative outlet. Life has much more meaning when you have an activity or something to look forward to after work.
Here are some fun hobby ideas for you if you’re looking for a way to fill in the gaps that only working can leave in your life:
Start a Blog
The fastest way to never be bored again. Blogging is the best, but it is definitely not for the lazy! You can blog about anything these days, and it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. I know lots of girls who host their blogs entirely through Instagram. But if you want to go the traditional route and get a website, I know a guy who designs great sites!
(Hey, Dad! 🙂 )
Canvas and paint are pretty inexpensive at Joann’s, Michaels, and other craft stores. Secret – I love painting! It can be such a relaxing hobby, and a great way to get out of your head. You could also look into attending a Wine & Painting class! They are so much fun, and you come out with a masterpiece every time!
Take a Dance Class
Or find a type of exercise that you don’t dread doing regularly. A dance class could be a fun way to get in extra exercise, without it feeling like work!
Don’t lie to yourself, when you post a really aesthetically pleasing Instagram you get pretty excited huh? Why not hone in on your skills! There are endless videos on Youtube for learning photography basics. If you have a phone with a camera, you can start. If you have some extra cash burning a hole in your pocket and the inspiration to learn, investing in a good camera could really get you going! This is the camera and lens that I use, and I love them!
Become a Decorator
Every year at Christmas Time, I am hired as my Mom’s personal decorator. I love decorating, and she loves not having the hassle of decorating. We both win. If you have the decorator’s eye, freelance yourself as your family, your friends’, or whoever else’s decorator!
These are just some of the many great hobbies you could get into. I encourage you to really think about what it is you love doing, even if the only reward for doing it is that you just genuinely enjoy it.
And then GO DO IT.
