Amazing and simple tea preparations

Today I wanted to share with you how I fix up my favorite morning teas! What I love about tea is that it is so simple to make and can really make a difference in your morning.

First things first, I always boil my water in a kettle on the stove and not in the microwave. It takes a minute or two longer, but (and I’m not sure if this is scientifically accurate or not, just personal experience) the water seems to stay hotter longer when it is boiled on the stove.

Yerba Mate

I found organic Yerba Mate tea bags at Trader Joes, where I do almost all of my grocery shopping. It wasn’t more than 3 or 4 dollars for 25 bags.

To prepare this wonderful tea, I start by adding a tablespoon of Blue Agave syrup to my cup (as sweetener) and a small slice of lemon. I pour the hot water over the tea bag, lemon, and agave, then let it sit for about 2-3 minutes. You can remove the lemon at about 1 minute.

And there you go, your own personal cup of sunshine. I like to drink this one before breakfast as my “waker upper”.

Earl Grey

I also bought my package of Earl Grey at Trader Joes for about $3. This kind of tea is more popular and could probably be found at most other stores, while Yerba Mate is a little harder to come across.

I love this for a morning tea. SO MUCH. So, once your water is hot, pour it over the tea bag and a spoonful of sugar. The secret ingredient that makes it taste heavenly is adding in a splash of Vanilla soymilk. So yummy and not to mention, dairy free! This tea tastes great with breakfast!
